MISSOULA (AP) — Missoula County officials have released the name of a 42-year-old Lolo man who died after being shot in the chest, apparently while he cleaned a gun.

The coroner’s office told the Missoulian the victim was Jeff Paul Geneau.

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that Geneau was cleaning a revolver that morning when the weapon discharged, hitting him in the chest. He died a short time later at the hospital.

The coroner’s office is still investigating, so a cause and manner of death have not been released.
