ROYAL CITY - Royal High School struggled against two formidable foes, falling to Kiona-Benton and Warden in volleyball.

However, the 25-23, 15-25, 16-25, 13-25 loss to Ki-Be demonstrated to Osulfka that his girls are advancing. It's been tough in the past to take a single game from the Bears. This time Royal took the first game and competed well in the other three.

"Inspirational play tonight, never gave up, great attitude," Olsufka said. "Lindsey played well passing and serving. Ashley passed well and made some spectacular saves to keep rallies going. Sophomore setter Alyx Ziegler is doing well and improving with every game."

Junior Taylor Freeman made 10-12 serves, four aces, six points, three digs and three kills. Senior Kailee Harris, went 8-9 serving, scored three aces, four points and four digs and made two kills and one block.

Allison Joslin, a junior, had 3-3 serving and two digs. Alyx Ziegler, a sophomore, was perfect serving at 7-7 and put up 13 assists.

Senior Samantha Noftle had four digs and three kills. Junior Lindsey Small, had perfect 20-20 serving, one ace, 13 points, 18 digs and five kills, and junior Ashley Valle went 10-12 serving with two aces, five points and 12 digs.

The loss to Warden didn't go as well. The Warriors were defeated 21-25, 4-25, 5-25.

"Started out very well, pleased with the first game of the match," Osulfka said. "Need to remember what that game felt like and try and play consistently. The girls had great energy that first game. They need to build on that kind of play to take their game to that next level.

Lindsey Small had 6-6 serving, one ace and 26 digs. Samantha Noftle went 5-5 serving with two aces.
