Volleyball squad drops Lady Pirates, Stillwater

The Columbia Falls volleyball team beat Stillwater Christian School in three games last week in an away non-conference match Sept. 18. Then they did the same to conference foe Polson a few days later.

The Wildkats drubbed Stillwater 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 and Polson 25-21, 25-15, 25-23.

Carla Nicosia and Ciera Finberg combined for 17 kills against Stillwater, while Cydney Finberg had 26 assists. Kaity Presnell dished up seven service aces for the Kats.

Against Polson, Kiara Burlage had eight kills and Nicosia had seven. Cydney Finberg had 21 of the Kats’ 23 assists. Shaylene Fishel served six aces.

The Kats have a key conference match against Frenchtown at home on Thursday. The freshmen start at 4:15 p.m. The varsity match usually starts about 7:15 p.m. The Kats face Whitefish on the road Saturday.

Columbia Falls is now 2-0 in conference play.

Search suspended for missing skiers

The search in Grand Teton National Park for two men with ties in the Flathead has been suspended because of inclement weather. The men are believed to be lost in an avalanche.
