The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was called when a Columbia Falls woman paid for her merchandise at a U.S. 2 West store and left, only to come back in five minutes later, grab a couple of cartons of cigarettes, and take off running early Wednesday morning. The woman failed to realize that her name was on the receipt from when she paid.
A woman was kicked out of the Whalebone Drive residence she was staying at for not paying rent, and her landlord was taking her stuff from the house and putting it out on the front lawn.
A Kalispell business on U.S. 2 East received what looked like a sheriff’s deputy uniform as a donation Tuesday and turned it in to police.

The city of Columbia Falls experienced a water main break at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Residents were affected throughout the city, but most service was restored shortly after, except for an area on Fourth Avenue West between 13th Street West and 16th Street West.
A woman called Kalispell Police from Fourth Street West on Tuesday to report another woman who has been harassing her for the last year. The woman has been stalking her at work and at home, sending her hate mail and text messages. The woman was formally warned by police.
A woman called to say she had purchased a gift card on Facebook, and when her husband went to use it, it had no money on it.
Someone reported a group of kids for smoking weed Tuesday. The caller said one of the pot smokers was wearing a tie-dye T-shirt. Police didn’t find anyone using drugs illegally, just a man with a medical marijuana card and a group of juveniles who were behaving.
A woman reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle on Hawthorne Way on Monday night and someone was putting large purchases on her credit card Tuesday.
A nice citizen called dispatch to remind an officer that his vehicle parked in an alley off South Main Street had been running for about two hours. Another officer was reminded that his vehicle was running near a downtown ice cream shop for five hours. Did the price of gas go down?
A man reported another man after he asked him to climb his balcony to get to a second-floor apartment. It turned out the man was just trying to surprise his girlfriend, but — surprise! — he was cited for possession of marijuana when police arrived.
