SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Airport runway will be closed for 10 days this fall so its surface can be mended.
The runway closure is slated to start on Monday and extend through Oct. 8, according to airport manager Dave Schuck.
The project will be split into two phases.
The initial phase involves repairing the pavement and sealing cracks. The pavement will be milled down by as much as 2 inches in some places, new base material will be compacted into place before being re-paved. Transverse and longitudinal cracks will also be sealed.
The follow-up phase involves seal coating the entire runway and repainting stripes, markings and heading numbers.
