Moses Lake MLHS Chiefs Swim & Dive
EPHRATA - Still without its home pool and facing one of the strongest swim teams in the state, it was tough going for Moses Lake girls swim.
Moses Lake's (2-1, 2-1) swim meet against Wenatchee (2-0, 4-0) was moved to Ephrata and the Chiefs lost their first meet of the season, 114-69.
Jalen Garza, Heather Carbon and Jordan Richeson all scored wins for the Chiefs.
Garza took first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.82 seconds, Carbon won the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 252.20 and Richeson won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 10.98 seconds.
Moses Lake swept the diving event as Claire Phipps and Naughtyia Peters took second and third, respectively.
Freshman Anna Fair narrowly took second place in the 200 yard individual medley. Fair recorded a time of 2 minutes, 29.71 seconds which was just .09 of a second behind first place finisher Kayli Elwyn, of Wenatchee.
Moses Lake continues its Columbia Basin Big Nine schedule at West Valley (Yakima) Thursday before traveling to Eisenhower for a dive meet on Friday.
The Chiefs will hopefully christen their new pool Sept. 30 against Eastmont.
