Patano Studio Architecture, based in Seattle and Coeur d'Alene, was honored with four awards last week at the Idaho Chapter of the American Institute of Architects' bi-annual awards gala in Boise.

The awards were given for projects completed on Lake Coeur d'Alene and at the University of Idaho.

The Ferris Cabin was awarded 'Best Use of Idaho Wood - Residential' and an AIA Citation for design excellence. The cabin is located on Loffs Bay Road on the west side of Lake Coeur d'Alene and was constructed by Alvin and George Cary. It features a 20-foot-tall window wall, glu-lam beams and cedar siding.

The Reveley Classroom Building at Pitkin Nursery for the College of Natural Resources at the University of Idaho, located just east of Moscow, was awarded 'Best Use of Idaho Wood - Commercial' and an AIA Honor Award for design excellence. The AIA Honor Award is the highest design honor bestowed on a project by the American Institute of Architects. The project was constructed by Quality Construction of Deary, Idaho. This project was constructed entirely from Idaho forest products, most donated by industry partners throughout the state. Products from many local mills and companies are featured in the design.

Patano Studio has garnered five AIA Idaho awards since 2012 and is the only North Idaho firm to be noted for design and technical excellence.

The studio director for Patano Studio Architecture, Christopher Patano, AIA is a North Idaho native and graduate of Post Falls High School and the University of Idaho.
