Hoop stars named all-state, conference

Four Columbia Falls basketball players have received all-state honors. Senior guard Ty Morgan and junior forward Grant Wallace were named all-state for the boys, and senior guard Ciera Finberg and senior forward Winter Kemppainen were named all-state for the girls.

Wildkats receiving first team all conference honors were Ciera Finberg, Cydney Finberg, Ellie Johnson and Kemppainen. Second team were Kiara Burlage and Peyton Kehr, and honorable mention was Sydney Grilley.

Wildcats receiving first team all conference honors were Jayce Fagerland, Morgan and Wallace. Second team was Grant Stenger, and honorable mention was Trevor Houston.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
