Cool Easter expected

COEUR d'ALENE - As Lori Nelson strolled through Coeur d'Alene City Park on Friday, she reflected on how it's been a mild North Idaho spring.
"It wasn't too friendly to the ski resorts, but it's allowed us to get outdoors earlier than usual," Nelson said. "I'm hearing some changes are on the way, though."
Cooler temperatures are indeed predicted this weekend and it's possible the lower elevations may even have a dusting of snow on Monday with 1 to 3 inches in the mountains, said Laurie Nisbet, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.
Nisbet said today and Sunday, when Easter egg hunts are held, are expected be mostly dry and partly cloudy, however.
Today's high is predicted to be 50 and Sunday's 53.
"Those are just a few degrees below normal for this time of year," Nisbet said.
Night temperatures are expected to dip to 28 tonight and 33 on Sunday.
Increasing clouds and wind will move into the area on Sunday afternoon.
"Because of the clouds moving in, it will be hard for snow to stick much," Nisbet said.
Unsettled and cool conditions will persist into next week.
Nisbet said some areas to the north such as Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry could see 1 to 3 inches of snow early next week.
