Robin Mary Broers, age 59, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 in Kalispell.

Robin was born May 27, 1955 to Dale and Betty Broderick in Spokane, Washington. She was fifth in a most unusual family of nine children, six of who had myotonic dystrophy including Robin.

When she was 3-years-old the family moved to Billings, Kalispell and then settled in Butte in 1964. Robin graduated from Butte Central High School in 1975.

Robin met her husband of 37 years, Henry, in Butte. Henry was a graduate of petroleum engineering from Montana Tech, and so they started their journey of following the oil rigs from Arkansas and surrounding states to England, Scotland and Ireland. She was able to travel through Europe during their time there and loved to tell stories about the people she met along the way. They moved back to Montana where they bought and ran the Crooked Tree Motel and RV Park for the past 29 years.

Robin is survived by her loving husband Henry Broers and son Christian, the light of her life. She was a supporter of the Special Olympics and was also a member of the Canyon Women’s Pool League. Robin volunteered at Head Start in Hungry Horse as well as worked for Head Start in Butte.

She is survived by Henry and Chris Broers of Hungry Horse; sisters Nancy Ludwick (Tom) of Spokane, Washington, Barb Cannon of Portland, Oregon, Patricia B. Miller of New Hampshire, and Susan Mohnasky of Connecticut; brother Mike Broderick of Redwood, Washington; two aunts; two uncles, and numerous nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Betty Broderick; brothers Jack and Kevin Broderick; sisters Christine, Denise and Elaine Broderick all of Butte.

Even though Robin herself had myotonic dystrophy, she and her sisters Nancy and Barb were able to continue to care for their other four siblings remaining in Butte for the past 20 years until their passing.

Robin loved and cherished her family and friends. Her thoughtful ways, her sense of humor, her strength and determination, generosity, and beauty of soul and spirit will always be remembered fondly. We will miss her, she was our angel.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6 at Hungry Horse Chapel in Hungry Horse. Immediately following the burial at Woodlawn Cemetery there will be a reception at Hungry Horse Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association may be made.
