BARBIERI: Press tried to smear him

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 years, 9 months AGO

This is one of the most poorly researched and written articles I have read in some time. There is not a single printed example of “fear-mongering” statements made by Shahram Hadian at this luncheon. Not one! Yet, based solely upon the press release posted on “The Eye on Boise Blog,” The CDA Press makes this an above-the-fold front page story with no facts to back up the headline.

The headline refers to religious leaders accusing Rep. Barbieri of fear-mongering, yet there is not a single quote from a single individual of the reported 67 religious leaders associated with the press release.

If one bothers to look up the three listed associations that submitted the press release, you will find that one of them consists of a total of three people, and hasn’t even updated their website since 2013. The other two appear to be nothing but LGBT front groups.

Whether you support Rep. Barbieri or not, it is plainly obvious that this article was nothing but an attempt by The CDA Press to smear Rep. Barbieri. If “The Press” can do this to him, they can do it to you or someone you may like or support.

This is not the reporting of news. This is a textbook example of yellow journalism. A complete reporting of the actual statements made at the luncheon should be published — front page, above-the-fold, so the readers can make an informed conclusion instead of reading blatant propaganda.
