New Kalispell housing development revived

A developer is reviving plans for a north Kalispell housing development.
Approval for a 26-lot development will be on the desk of the Kalispell City Council tonight. Known as the Bloomstone project, the plan first went into motion in 2008 but stalled during the economic downturn.
“Nothing has happened since then,” said Tom Jentz, director of planning and building for the city of Kalispell. “What they’re doing now is they’re ready to pick up where they were and take off.”
The developer, Kalispell National Investment Co., received extensions on plat applications through May 2015. With another deadline approaching, the company submitted final plans for approval.
This 26-lot area would be the first phase of a larger 569-unit subdivision to be built on 80 acres. The developer has secured the land west of Kidsports and north of Four Mile Drive for the project.
Plans are for 25 single-family homes and one large multifamily building that could accommodate up to 96 apartments.
Most of the legwork was finished in 2007 and 2008 during the preliminary plat process that included 26 conditions set by the city. Jentz said that things should be “clean and ready to go” and construction could begin this summer.
If approved, Bloomstone would be Kalispell’s first large residential project north of Four Mile Drive.
