Donald J. Thom, dear husband, dad, grandpa and friend, went to be with his Savior on April 4, 2015, with his family by his side. He celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary with his wife, June (Brueher) Thom, on April 1st.
Don was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Herman and Emma Thom. He worked as a barber in Coeur d'Alene with his dad for 15 years. He quit barbering and went to work for Verizon (GTE) where he worked for 24 years, retiring at the age of 60. He worked various jobs after his retirement including working at Avondale Golf Course.
Don loved to play golf, enjoyed his hot rods, and loved his family more than life itself. He always said he had a good life.
Don is survived by his wife, June Thom; son Don A. Thom and his wife Maile; grandchildren: Jessica (Mark), Ashley, Zachary, Michael, Marisa, and Rita; and numerous nephews.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at the Yates Funeral Home Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave., with a reception following at the Yates Hayden Gathering Center. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
