COEUR d'ALENE - The year of the Trojan continued for at least another night on Saturday during the 53rd annual North Idaho Sports Banquet at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn.

Post Falls High basketball coach Mike McLean was named High School Male Coach of the Year for 5A-4A after his team went 25-1 and won the state 5A championship. His team shared Team of the Year honors with the Post Falls wrestling team, which claimed its first state title in program history in February in Pocatello.

Former Post Falls standout Connor Hill, who recently wrapped his college career at the University of Idaho as the Vandals' all-time leader in 3-pointers, was named co-Male Athlete of the Year. He shared the honor with North Idaho College wrestler Taylor Kornoely, who won the 285-pound championship at the NJCAA tournament in February.

Lakeland senior basketball standout Tyrel Derrick was named North Idaho Athlete of the Year for 5A-4A and Sandpoint High cross country coach Matt Brass, whose girls team won the state 4A title, was named Female Coach of the Year for 5A-4A.

Individual awards for other high school sports were also presented.

Also at the banquet, Lake City High football coach Van Troxel, former Idaho men's basketball standout Orlando Lightfoot, ex-Idaho volleyball and basketball player Mindy (Rice) Madsen and the late Bob "Marz" Marzulli, a driving force behind youth sports in St. Maries, were inducted into the Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame.
