SANDERS COUNTY – As the mild spring weather turns warmer residents and visitors to Sanders County can look forward to a number of outdoor activities.

One activity that has become a tradition in June is the annual Sanders County Yard Sale.

The county wide yard-sale-ing event takes place on the last full weekend of June every summer.

This year the ninth annual Sanders County Yard Sale will take place over three days, starting on Friday, June 26 and continuing through Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.

Starting on Wednesday, April 15 a downloadable application for the countywide event will be available on the yard sale’s website.

The website’s address is www.sanders-saleing.com

Executive Director of the Sanders County Community Development Corporation Jen Kreiner is looking forward to this year’s upcoming event.

“We hope to have a lot of high quality sales this year,” Kreiner said.

At last year’s event volunteers from the University of Montana were on hand to administer a survey.

The questionnaire determined where shoppers were coming from.

Kreiner noted that though the survey’s sample size was small it determined many visitors to last year’s event were from outside of Sanders County.

“Last year brought in 50 percent non-resident shopper,” Kreiner said.

Kreiner explained these visiting shoppers bring in money from outside of the county and help drive the local economy within Sanders County.

The yard saleing even is also affiliated with Tour 200, an aspect of SCCDC geared towards tourism in Sanders County.

There were over 80 different yard sales during the event last year, with sales occurring all along Highway 200 from Heron, in the western end of Sanders County, to Dixon in the eastern portion of the county.

In addition to the sales on Highway 200, there are also a number of sales on Highway 28 through Hot Springs.
