POST FALLS - The woman who died Saturday after a two-vehicle collision on the Rathdrum Prairie was identified on Tuesday by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Officeas Marie-Claire M. Steinkamp, 85.
"Steinkamp's last known physical address was in Spokane," a KCSO press release states. "However, she had been living a transient lifestyle. The sheriff's office has not been able to locate any next of kin."
The collision occurred at the intersection of Pleasantview Road and Prairie Avenue just west of Kootenai County's transfer station.
According to the KCSO, Steinkamp was westbound in a 1995 Ford Aerostar van on Prairie when she failed to yield at a Stop sign to a semi that was northbound on Pleasantview.
Rupinder Shokar, 43, British Columbia, was driving the Coastal Pacific Xpress, Inc. semi pulling a 53-foot box trailer, and was not injured.
Numerous items from inside the van were scattered at the crash scene.
Autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
