The Columbia Falls softball team picked up a key conference victory last week as it downed Polson at home 7-2 on April 7.

The Wildkats were led by Peyton Kehr’s two RBIs as the Kats had a big fourth-inning, scoring four runs to put the Lady Pirates down 6-0. Polson mounted a mini-rally in the top of the seventh to get in the scoring column, but pitcher Ashley Trueblood secured the win.

Kehr went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a double. Carlee Brown went 3 for 4 on her trademark short hits down the third base line to get on first.

Madison Fetters had a great night, going 2 for 2 at the plate and scoring the go-ahead run. Katie Price had an RBI single in the fourth.

The Kats blew out Whitefish 21-0 in an April 9 away game but lost to Frenchtown 9-1 in a nonconference game at the Libby Invitational Tourney on April 11. The Kats had five errors and just three hits in the loss against the Lady Broncs, the defending Class A champs.

Against the Bulldogs, the Kats had 12 runs in the third to hammer the young Bulldog squad.

The Kats are now 5-1 on the season and face Libby and Frenchtown at home on Thursday and Friday respectively. Varsity starts are 5:30 p.m. each night.
