LABRADOR: An upset voter speaks

Having read Jeff Selle’s article on Congressman Labrador I feel the need to comment.

Raul Labrador was elected with the support of the Tea Party and immediately began to disappoint his constituents on the issue of illegal immigration. Eventually he came around and is now a leader in the fight against illegal immigration and Obama’s illegal executive actions. He has an A+ rating from Numbers USA and a 95 percent score on The Conservative Review. In the meantime he has garnered attention for his outspoken opposition to the Republican leadership and their liberal leanings. All good.

Last November, I contacted Congressman Labrador and urged him to vote against retaining John Boehner as Speaker. His reply explained why he voted instead to keep Boehner, who promised to take the House of Representatives in a conservative direction and how it would be “a model for how he’ll conduct himself as Speaker in the 114th Congress.” Fair enough. It seemed for a while that Boehner had turned over a new leaf by holding a hard line against the liberals. That is until the last minute when he caved on the issue of not funding Obama’s illegal amnesty while funding the DHS. I wrote Congressman Labrador and asked him if, in light of Boehner’s betrayal, he would once again lead the effort to remove John Boehner as Speaker as he did in 2013. Congressman Labrador has always acknowledged my communications. Not this time. I am still waiting for a reply. Once again, Raul Labrador disappoints.
