COLUMBIA FALLS — Ashley Trueblood doubled in two big runs in the fifth inning as Columbia Falls posted a 7-3 Northwestern A softball victory over Libby on Thursday.

Katie Price led off with a single and scored on a RBI double by Peyton Kehr.

Trueblood followed with her shot to the left-field fence, which scored Kehr and Lottie Ellis, who earlier walked with two outs.

That put Columbia Falls up 5-2.

“That was huge,” Columbia Falls coach Dave Kehr said of Trueblood’s extra-base hit.

“They had just tied it up at 2-2.”

Trueblood also singled in two runs in the first inning to right field.

Five of Columbia Falls’ nine hits were doubles.

Libby also had nine hits.

“They are a good team,” coach Kehr said of the Loggers.

“They hit the ball all the way through the lineup. Ashley (Trueblood) scattered their nine hits well.”

Trueblood (5-1) went the distance. She struck out five.

Hannah England (4-1) also went the entire game for Libby. She fanned nine.

Libby came into the contest 5-0 overall.

Staci Regh homered for Libby in the sixth inning.

Columbia Falls (5-1 overall, 3-0 league) hosts Frenchtown tonight at 5:30 in league play.
