POLSON — Polson lost to Dillon 5-2 and Whitefish 4-3 in boys dual tennis action on Saturday while the Polson girls beat Dillon 4-3 but lost to Whitefish 5-2.
“Number 1 doubles, all four girls played a fabulous match,” Polson coach Bob Hislop said of the outing with Whitefish.
“Whitefish became the conference favorite today after their 5-2 win over the Lady Pirates.”
Whitefish’s Anna Peterson and Katie Fyall defeated Polson’s Taylor Rost and Shawna Lenz 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in that No. 1 doubles matchup.
Whitefish girls coach Patrick Dryden said Makenna Benbrook’s win at No. 3 singles “was a key match. She lost the first set (but pulled it out). It was a good match for her, a real grinder.”
The Whitefish girls also beat Dillon 4-3 to improve to 7-2 in duals. The Whitefish boys beat Dillon 5-2.
“We are off to a great start this season with an 8-1 dual record,” Whitefish boys coach Chris Schwaderer said. “I couldn’t be happier with the guys on the team. They are extremely competitive, and so far, they have found a way to win.”
