Carmella 'Cam' Pangallo Bowman, 93

| April 19, 2015 9:00 PM

Carmella was born in Granite, Idaho, on Nov. 11, 1921, to Bruno and Elizabeth Pangallo, first generation immigrants from Italy. She and her six siblings worked the small family farm and attended school during the Great Depression. She married Luis Franks and gave birth to Judith Ann in 1940. She married Arthur O'Dell Bowman after WWII and started their family while traveling in search of employment throughout the western states.

Carmella was a dedicated mother with a love for family above all else, and a love and understanding of animals secondary. She and her husband shared a common joy in their horses, but she found most of her comfort in her gardens. After the death of her husband in 1978, Carmella remained in southern California for a short time but always wished to return to the panhandle where the remainder of her family lived. In 1992, her dreams of going home came true and she settled in Hayden, Idaho, for the remainder of her days.

Carmella was preceded in death by her brothers, Rocky, John and James; sisters Josephine Pangallo (Langenheder), Mary Pangallo (Elliott), and Rosie Pangallo; stepson Ronald Bowman, son Arthur Dean Bowman, and stepdaughter Lorene Bowman (Jones); and grandson Wayne Rethaford.

She is survived by her children Judith Bowman (Ramey), Kenneth Bowman, and Mary Bowman (Briggs); along with niece Gloria Ziegler and nephews Ernie Pangallo and Clifford Pangallo; grandsons Jeffrey Ramey, Chester Ramey and Michael Rethaford; granddaughters Kimberly Bowman (Cruzen) and Julie Bowman (Witsken); six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Carmella will be remembered for her love of family, her humor, and her love of life by all who knew her.

The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday April 23, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, followed by a graveside memorial at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint.

Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Cam's memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
