Badminton players cause a racket

It started as a game of badminton but turned into an altercation between a couple on U.S. 2 East in Evergreen. They had been drinking, and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies separated them for the night. As regular players will attest, badminton is a game of high emotion, with or without alcohol.
Concerned about unsafe shooting near Whitefish, a U.S. 93 resident called about her neighbor’s gun habits. The neighbor allegedly told the caller that he shoots ravens, turkeys and deer on his property.
After firing his son from employment, a Ridgewood Drive resident reported that he was being harassed by the former familial employee.
County animal control captured a male pit bull that was reportedly friendly but was jumping into cars and going into backyards near Looking Glass Avenue.
Animal control set up a trap to capture some “nuisance dogs” near Birch Grove Road, but a resident called to say they caught a “very unhappy fox” instead. The fox was released.
While driving down West Utah Street, a golf ball came “flying out of Buffalo Hill Golf Course” and struck her car. She brought damage estimates to police.
Witnesses along Second Avenue West told the Columbia Falls Police Department that a pickup was driving wildly with its doors open. Police met the driver, who said he was trying to quit smoking and was “frayed” at the moment.
A man who apparently misdialed 911 told dispatch that his “big thumb” kept hitting the emergency button on his phone.
An officer counseled a 17-year-old to “stop picking on 9-year-olds” after a parent complained.
Responders from the Somers-Lakeside and Bigfork Fire Departments were called to an accident at the green box site on Montana 82. No injuries were reported, but debris was all over the road. Traffic was partially blocked.
Some renegade pre-teens riding a go-cart and motorcycle were reported to the Kalispell Police Department. They had been riding near Empire Loop for three days and breaking traffic laws. Police met with the father, who said he would handle the young motorists.
Officers helped a Kelly Road resident return a child who just showed up at the front door. The 3-year-old told the resident that he had gotten lost.
A former Texas resident called police to ask about local laws on disciplining children.
Police investigated an apparent knife slashing near First Avenue East. A man reported being cut on the hand with a hunting knife.
A woman was known to be in the Whitefish Police Department lobby but didn’t offer many clues as to why. According to the report, she “refused to say what was going on but was upset.”
