Two men went to the hospital with minor injuries following a head-on collision Monday on Montana 82 north of Somers.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Thomas Manz, a pickup truck crossed the center line on the bridge over the Flathead River. The driver tried to correct and spun out as a large box truck was oncoming. The two vehicles collided on the bridge, causing substantial damage to the pickup.

One of the vehicles was reported to be on fire in early reports.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, Manz said. A passenger in the box truck was uninjured.

Traffic on the highway was blocked for about 90 minutes before one lane opened up. Less than an hour later, both lanes were reopened on the busy roadway that skirts the north end of Flathead Lake.

Manz confirmed the drivers are Kalispell residents, but the Montana Highway Patrol has not released the names of the drivers.
