A barn was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon near Glacier Park International Airport.

The fire occurred in the middle of property on Trumble Creek Road just west of the airport. Crews put out the fire before it spread to nearby structures, but the barn was a total loss.

It was fully engulfed in flames by the time airport fire crews arrived.

Evergreen Fire Rescue and the Whitefish Fire Department also responded to put down the flames. The barn was full of hay but no animal remains were found inside. Horses and cows grazed nearby in pens.

Airport Fire Chief Scott Miller said at the scene that fire officials hadn’t yet determined what caused the fire.

There were no injuries.
