C-Falls academic all-state athletes

Several Columbia Falls athletes recently were recognized as academic all-state selections. In order to qualify, they must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average and letter in their respective sport.

Second quarter athletes were Will Johnson, Winter Kemmpainen, Ty Morgan, Emerald Ogden, Meagan Seliger and Ciera Finberg. Third quarter athletes were Genevieve Devitt, Keavyn Baker, Kiara Burlage, Cydney Finberg, Hannah Freeman, Sysdney Hovde, Peyton Kehr, Haylie Peacock, Sydney Grilley, Ellie Johnson, Glenn Morden and Summer Burlage.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
