Softball: Lady Loggers top Flathead

LIBBY — Catcher Devon Gallagher hit a two-run home run and pitcher Hannah England struck out 13 batters in Libby’s 6-3 nonconference home victory over the Flathead Bravettes on Tuesday.

Gallagher’s two-run shot came in the bottom of the third, breaking a 1-1 tie. She finished 1 for 4 with two RBIs.

The Bravettes (1-10) tied the game in the sixth, scoring two runs in the top half of the inning, but Libby (5-1) responded with three more of their own in the bottom half.

England scattered four hits in seven innings of work.

Flathead’s Kylee Meredith had a double for the Bravettes and was joined by Becca Knutson, Makaila Jorgenson and Kylee Beccari in the hit column. Knutson drove in two runs while Jorgenson finished with one RBI.

Madison Monogold went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Loggers.

EUREKA — The Lions and Trojans spilt a pair of one-run games during Tuesday’s double-header in Eureka.

The Lions put one run across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning which proved to be the game-winning run as Eureka pitcher Laura Williams retired the side in the top of the seventh for a 3-2 victory.

Troy’s Kylie Carr had the only extra-base hit in Game 1. She finished 1 for 2 with a double. Pitcher Brenna Garrison helped her own cause, driving in a run on a 1 for 3 effort.

The Lions banged out 10 hits in the opener. Williams and Charity Parson both went 2 for 3,  Eryn Their added two hits and catcher Stacy Cooper finished 3 for 4 in the win.

The Lions also finished with 10 hits in Game 2 but were on the losing end of a 14-13 ball game.

Trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the fifth, the Trojans exploded for a seven-run inning.

Aurora Becquart and Kaitlin Downey each hit doubles for the Trojans with Becquart’s driving in three runs.

Courtney Lemer went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Lions.
