Theis "Teddy" Barbara Sorrells of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away on April 18, 2015, at the age of 99.
Teddy (as she was known by friends and family) was born on Feb. 28, 1916, in Forbes, N.D., to Clayton and Bessie Soliday. Teddy grew up in Mitchell, S.D., in a close knit family with one brother and two sisters. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1935 during the Great Depression. The family moved west; settling first in Salem, Ore., and soon thereafter in Idaho.
Over the years, Teddy worked as a bookkeeper for several companies in Coeur d'Alene, including the Coeur d'Alene Creamery, Norm's Plumbing and Kerr Oil.
Teddy was active in several local groups including the Coeur d'Alene Credit Women's Breakfast Club and the Republican Party. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church. Teddy was known for her busy schedule, however, she made time to volunteer at Kootenai Memorial Hospital. She loved to cook, and frequently hosted friends and family at her home in Coeur d'Alene. In addition, she loved to sew and created everything from bedspreads to wedding dresses.
Teddy was preceded in death by her two husbands: Harold Anderson and Roy Sorrells; her parents; and her sisters, Beverly Stearn and Shirley Olin.
Teddy is survived by her daughter, Chere Dean, and son-in-law, Bill, of Coeur d'Alene; brother Clayton "Solly" Soliday of Spokane, Wash.; nieces Tracie (Olin) Smith of Coeur d'Alene, Shanon (Olin) Lynch of Renton, Wash., and Sandy Smith of Vancouver, Wash.; nephews Clayton Soliday (Patsy), Larry Soliday, Jack Soliday (Karen) and Ron Soliday (Pam), all of Reardan, Wash., and Dennis Baird (Laura) of Okanogan, Wash.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Vista Care in St. Maries for their compassionate service and care of Teddy over the last several months.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the First Baptist Church, 424 E. Wallace Ave., Coeur d'Alene.
Teddy will be laid to rest with her parents at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
