Even with many of the top athletes sitting out after a competitive Top 10 Meet in Missoula earlier in the week, a handful of athletes were able to post remarkable times at the Glacier Quadrangular on Thursday at Glacier High School.

Bigfork’s Marissa Hiza cleared 5 feet, 3 inches in the high jump, just missing on three attempts at 5-4, to set a qualifying mark for the state meet. The mark is the fourth highest jump in the state this year and matches the highest in Class B.

Ronan’s Lee Camel leapt 15-6 1/2 in the long jump to also reach a state qualifying mark.

Glacier’s Brietta Bumgarner won the 200-meter dash and triple jump as one of three multiple event winners on the girls side. Eureka’s Tyann Totten won the 800 and 1,600 and Ronan’s Aspen Jore won the shot put and javelin.

Bigfork’s Josh Sandry threw the javelin 169-7 to set a state-qualifying mark and post the third best throw in Class B this season.

“I’m coming on pretty well (in the javelin),” Sandry said.

“I haven’t had a lot of practice, but at the end of the year I’m hoping to be up there.”

The Vikings’ Carson Cantrell cleared 12 feet in the pole vault to also guarantee a spot at state.

Eureka’s Christian Langston swept the 100 and 200 sprints and Ronan’s Bryce Cullen won the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Glacier’s Harrison Kauffman won the shot put and discus.
