The Lady Logger softball team had a busy couple days of softball as they faced four teams at the Frenchtown Tournament Friday and Saturday. Libby finished the tournament with three wins and one loss, bouncing back from an opening-game defeat.

In their first game, the Lady Loggers held a comfortable six-run lead when Hamilton started the fourth inning. But the next two and a half innings was all Broncs, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth before a big sixth inning where they touched home plate four times, taking the victory 12-10.

The top of the first saw Libby take an early lead, 3-0. Libby’s rally started when Abby Ennenga doubled. A single from Rachel Rebo brought home Mahalah Wedel and the scoreboard lit up again when Devon Gallagher scored on a wild pitch and Rebo scored on a passed ball.

Lady Logger Madisen Monigold got on base four times in the game. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Staci Regh went 2-4 at the plate and drove in three runs. 

In their next game Libby rebounded from the loss to Hamilton in impressive fashion, shellacking the Florence Falcons 12-0 in five innings.

The win was keyed by a big fifth inning by the Lady Loggers, which, after holding the Falcons scoreless in the bottom of the inning, the mercy rule was initiated.

In the eight-run inning, Libby scored on a two-run single by Staci Regh, a bases loaded walk by Madisen Monigold, a two-run single by Mahalah Wedel, an RBI single by Abby Ennenga, and a two-run double by Devon Gallagher.

Libby grabbed the lead in the first inning thanks to a rally that saw two runs cross the plate on two singles. The Loggers pushed across one run in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Gallagher got ahold of one and knocked it out of the park for a one-run homer.

On Saturday, Libby first squared off against the Maroon’s of Butte Central in the 11 a.m. tilt. 

With the score tied at three, Germany came to the plate in the bottom of the sixth. Germany brought home the winning run to give Libby the win as they hung on to beat Butte Central 4-3.

Hannah England got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over seven innings. England struck out nine, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Gallagher and Rebo each had two RBIs in the game, which accounted for all of the Lady Loggers’ points

In their fourth game of the tournament, it was a five run fourth inning that gave the Lady Loggers some breathing room as they went on to defeat the Anaconda Copperheads 8-4.

Libby went up for good on an RBI single by Dayln Germany that brought home Devon Gallagher.

Madisen Monigold led the Lady Logger offensive attack, as she got on base three times in the game. She scored two runs, had two RBIs, and smacked a double in the fourth inning.

Mahalah Wedel went 2-4 at the plate and had three RBIs in the game.

Khalyn Hageness recorded the win for Libby. She allowed four runs, struck out five, walked two and surrendered 10 hits over seven innings.

On Thursday at Libby, Hannah Potter hit a third-inning grand slam and Camas Renault shut down Libby’s bats as the Pirates topped the Loggers 6-2. 

Leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Potter stepped to the plate with one out and belted a pitch over the center-field wall to extend the Pirates’ lead to 6-0.

Kaelen Wall and Taylor Brackey each contributed an RBI for Polson.

Despite striking out 11 batters, Hannah England took the loss. She allowed six runs in seven innings and walked three.

The Polson Pirates never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring six runs on a home run by Hannah Potter and an RBI single by Kaelen Wall.

Two runs in the bottom of the fourth helped Libby close the deficit to 6-2. A two-run single by Devon Gallagher set off a Logger rally, but a fly-out by Staci Regh put an end to the threat.
