Bluehawks take first at home

THOMPSON FALLS – River’s Bend Golf Course played host to the Thompson Falls Invitational over the weekend as golfers from area schools competed for individual and team honors on the links.

Both the Thompson Falls boys and girls golf squads shot low scores during the tournament with the boys taking first and the girls placing second in the team competitions.

The Bluehawks took the top spot, placing four golfers in the top ten in the individual competition and shooting the lowest team score, a total of 339 strokes.

The Lady Hawks finished second in their field placing three golfers in the individual top ten with an overall team score of 439.

Dalton Hooten led the Bluehawks with a round of 83 over eighteen.

Hooten shared fourth place in the tournament with Josh Benda of Superior and Joseph Potkonjak of Bigfork, both of whom also shot an 83.

Greg Wadsworth finished just behind Hooten with a final tally of 84, sharing fifth place with McKinley Nicholas of Seeley-Swan.

Caleb Bates and Dylan Beckman of Thompson Falls also cracked the top ten in the boy’s competition.

Both Bates and Beckman ended their rounds with a final total of 86.

For the Lady Hawks Brooke Jacobs led the charge finishing her day with a score of 94 and taking fourth place in the tournament.

Elsie Brown and Abby Croft also cracked the top ten for the Lady Hawks.

Brown notched a 109 to take ninth in the tournament and Croft shot a 113 to tie for tenth with Kailtlyn Woirhaye of Ronan.

Jade LaDeaux of the Plains golf team had a standout day in Thompson Falls finishing the invitational with a third place finish.

LaDeaux placed near the top of the leaderboard with a 90 on the day.
