SCHAWANA - The Wind Valley Scripture Scholars, based in Schawana, took first place at the National Bible Bowl recently to make it three years as national champs.

The Wind Valley team, coached by Meg and her son Beck Bartrand, took first place at each of the first three levels of the Pathfinder Bible Experience Program (Bible Bowl). It was invited to participate in the final level, the North American Division Pathfinder Bible Experience.

Wind Valley received a first place ranking. There were 127 teams from all over the U.S. and Canada participating in English, French, and Spanish. The topic of the 90 questions was the Gospel of Matthew.

The team members include Anson Bartrand of Schawana and Adam Rinaldi, Benjamin Rentfro, Abe and Yve Ellis, and Abram Shouse, all of Cle Elum. Jonathan Curtis served as the team runner.

"Some of the team members have already begun their studies of Exodus, the topic for next year's Bible Bowl," Meg Bartrand said.
