Richard (Dick) V. Polacek December 8, 1931- April 24, 2015 Resided in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Richard age 83 passed away after an extended illness at Kootenai Medical Center. Dick was born in Johnstown, New York to Sophie and Antony Polacek on December 8, 1931. As an adult, he moved to Southern California where he raised his family, daughter Denise, son Ronald and son Paul. He loved being a Dad and enjoyed being a boy scout leader and many camping trips with his children, especially Kings Canyon, in California. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing with his children.
He worked in the grocery business for 29 years. He was a happy man and always kept busy after retirement, until his health failed. He did wonderful woodwork and made all his grandchildren special cradles. He enjoyed playing the piano and played by ear, music was a big part of his life. He married Beverley in 1988, they enjoyed traveling the mainland United States over the years In 2004 Dick and Bev moved to Coeur d'Alene and loved the area with all its beauty. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and worked while he was well at the Community Kitchen.
He is survived by his loving wife Beverley, daughter Denise of So California, son Ronald of Nassau Bahamas and Paul of Los Angeles, Calif., step-son David Sanderson, sister in law Jean Polacek of Johnstown, New York, 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, I great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Millie and brother Fred.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 6; Urn committal will be at 2:00 P.M. at St. Thomas Catholic cemetery.
