Kalispell man charged with sexual assault of teen girl

A Kalispell man accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl is headed to court.

Jayson Arik Marquez, 38, has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent. He was arrested on Tuesday.

According to court documents, multiple sexual assaults took place between November 2011 and January 2012.

In interviews with police investigators, the girl recounted various sexual acts allegedly initiated by Marquez.

Marquez was interviewed by police on Nov. 19, 2014. According to court documents, he didn’t admit to sexual assaults but acknowledged that he watched the girl from time to time when a parent was away.

The maximum penalty for this type of sexual assault is 100 years in prison with no parole eligibility for 25 years.

Marquez is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center on $75,000 bail. His arraignment is Aug. 27. in Flathead County District Court.

Winds caused Schafer plane crash

The small plane that crashed at the remote Schafer Meadows Airstrip on June 23 was coming in for a landing when it caught a wind gust that led the craft to go past the end of the runway.
