COEUR d'ALENE - Reggie Nault's body was located Monday morning in Lake Coeur d'Alene by the private sonar company Ralston & Associates from Kuna.

Nault's body was discovered in the water a few hundred yards from Arrow Point, according to Nault's mother, Brandi Jones. Jones waited on a dock with divers as they prepared to retrieve Nault's body shortly after he was located by sonar around 10 a.m.

"We are so thankful for every single effort that there has been up to this point," Jones said.

"Especially all the community support, prayer and the people who continue to support us."

Jones said she is happy that Nault's body has been located and that the closure process for his family can begin.

Nault was reported missing July 21, when he fell from or dove from a boat in which he and two other teens were riding on Lake Coeur d'Alene. According to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office report, witnesses reported that Nault, who was not wearing a life jacket, immediately disappeared in the water.

Gene Ralston of Ralston & Associates joined the search for Nault on Saturday. Ralston and his wife, Sandy, recovered the body of a missing Sandpoint man, Jeremy Heckert, on Thursday in Lake Pend Oreille. Heckert had been missing and presumed drowned for three weeks after jumping from a boat into the water July 10 and not resurfacing.

Ralston said he was contacted by the family and later by KCSO to aid in the search for Nault. Once Heckert's body had been recovered, the Ralstons began searching for Nault. Ralston chose to search an area that had not been explored yet.

"We took out the two boys who were with (Nault) individually, and got their opinion to where it happened," Ralston said. "Then we ran into an eyewitness who confirmed the location told to us by the boys and from there we expanded our search."

That information eventually led the Ralstons and their side-scan sonar to the 125 feet of water where Nault's body was found.

Once the Ralstons confirmed they had found Nault, an underwater device known as a Remotely Operated Vehicle was deployed. The ROV then recovered Nault and brought his body to a 20-foot water depth, where Kootenai County Sheriff's divers could safely bring him to the surface, Ralston said.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Lt. Stu Miller said Nault's father, Andy Nault, was on the boat when the recovery was made Monday.

"We are glad he was found and that the family can have some closure," Miller said.

Jones remembered her son Reggie and the texts he sent her in the hours before he went missing.

"He was having the best day, loving it on the lake," Jones said. "He kept texting me saying how much fun he was having."

Jones said she finds comfort knowing her son lived the life he wanted in the way that he wanted. She was glad he was enjoying the life he lived during his final day.

Jones said Nault, who played baseball for the Vikings at Coeur d'Alene High School, had a great love for sports. Nault also had the opportunity to play with the Dodgers, a Coeur d'Alene American Legion Baseball team this summer.

"He had a great summer with the Dodgers; he loved doing that and appreciated the experience so much," Jones said.

A post from the CALB Facebook page features a picture of Nault with his teammates. The caption reads: "We will miss you Reggie. You were only a Lum for one summer, but you left us with some amazing memories, and highlight reel plays."

Nault made an impact on the field and off the field with his friends and family.

"He really was like the full-package deal," Jones said. "Reggie was so honest and didn't let failure hold him back, he had such strong faith, he was solid with the lord."

Jones said she is not worried for her son now that she knows he is with God.
