SAGLE — Bonner County plans to work with the Idaho Transportation Department and BNSF Railway to close the at-grade railroad crossing on Heath Lake Road.

The planned closure will be discussed today during the Bonner County commission’s weekly business meeting.

Bonner County Road & Bridge Director Don Hutson said the crossing is being targeted for closure for safety reasons and because of eventual widening of U.S. Highway 95 in Sagle.

“The planned widening of Highway 95 is going to limit any opportunity for there to be an access there anyway,” Hutson said.

The crossing is so close to the highway that its approach road has a 90-degree corner on it.
