The Columbia Falls swim team showed its moxy when it mattered the most, taking second at the state meet in Roundup over the weekend.
"The swimmers were all fired up, they knew they had to swim hard for a trophy, they gave it their all and succeed with second place," said coach Mike Nelson. "Most swimmers improved in every event. They had their best times ever."
Glasgow was first in the A division, which included Columbia Falls.
The Wildcats had a first place finish by their 8U 100 medley relay team of Alexis Gladeau, Sadie Cheff, Campbell "Soup" Fox and Avery Role. Zane McCallum won the 9-10 year old 50 backstroke with a time of 42.82 to come home with a championship trophy.
But it was a total team effort, Nelson said.
"First year swimmers, Camille Cronk, Gladeau, Logan Niles and Tyler McCormick never competed before and made it to state, that's a victory," Nelson said.
