GEORGE - A Mattawa woman, a Quincy woman and a Warden man were injured on July 28 when two vehicles collided on Highway 281 one mile north of George.

The 3:45 p.m. accident occurred at the Highway 281 spur when the Warden driver failed to give right of way to the Mattawa driver, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The Warden driver was Peter Klausberger, 78. He was driving a Maroon 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Klausberger was wearing his seat belt, but he was hurt. He was taken by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center in Quincy. His vehicle, which had reportable damage, was removed by George Towing.

The Mattawa driver was Nomeli Reyes Ramirez, 27. She was properly restrained, as was her passenger, Alicia Garcia De La Cruz, 28, of Quincy. Both were injured, and both were taken to QVMC.

Reyes Ramirez was driving a gold 2003 GMC Envoy. With reportable damage, it was removed by George Towing.

According to the WSP, Klausberger was southbound on 281, and Reyes Ramirez was northbound. As Reyes Ramirez approached the spur, Klausberger attempted to make a left turn in front of Reyes Ramirez.

Klausberger's pickup struck the front of Reyes Ramirez's Envoy.

Failure to yield was the cause of the accident, and Klausberger was cited by the WSP for the violation.
