Steve Neil Hatcher, 57, of Spokane Valley, Wash., died suddenly on Aug. 5, 2015. Born on Nov. 5, 1957, to Ron and Hazel Hatcher, Steve graduated from Central Valley High School and was passionate about sports.

In 1980 Steve joined the Spokane Valley Fire Department and in his own words he never worked a day in his life. He served as a paramedic for more than 20 years and was proudly promoted to Captain on July 1, 2009.

One year after meeting the love of his life, Steve proposed to Mindy, leading to 35 years of living every moment to its fullest. Together they owned Awards, Etc. in Post Falls, Idaho. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Marissa and Breanne (Noodles). Coaching his girls' soccer teams gave him the opportunity to play a larger role in their lives.

He loved hunting (fanatical), scuba diving, four-wheeling, time at the lake and ice-cold root beer. Steve was the rope that tied our family together and will be forever missed.

Steve is survived by his wife, Mindy; daughters Marissa Fuher (Corey) and Breanne Hatcher; parents Ron and Hazel Hatcher; sister Linda Thompson (Richard); brother Lyle Hatcher (Maria); family in-laws Rovella Vawter, Doug Vawter (Cheri), Tim Vawter (Barb) and Wendy May (Kimbo); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at the Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99037. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, P.O. Box 8249 Missoula, MT 59807.
