Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks completed an environmental assessement for the farm lease extension on the North Shore of Flathead Lake.

The analysis covers the farming contracts of the two current farmers for the North Shore State Park and the North Shore Wildlife Management Area.

The draft was out for a 2-week public review through July 20, 2015. FWP received six comments, five supporting the extension of the farming contracts. No comments were received against the proposal.

In reviewing all the public comments and other relevant information, and evaluating the environmental effects, it was recommended that the Fish and Wildlife Commission approve the farm lease extensions on the North Shore of Flathead Lake. The Commission approved the proposals at their Aug. 6, 2015, meeting.

Copies of the decision are available at the FWP office, 490 N Meridian Rd., Kalispell; Montana State Library, 1515 E 6th Ave., Helena; FWP State Headquarters, 1420 E 6th Ave., Helena; the FWP website at fwp.mt.gov/News/Recent Public Notices/Decision Notices/search Public Notices using Farm Lease Extension; and available for viewing at local libraries.
