Police have no suspects in the animal-cruelty case in which three goats were stabbed late last month in Coeur d'Alene.

"We were hoping the Crime Stoppers reward (offer) would generate tips," Sgt. Christie Wood said Friday.

The three goats were stabbed while doing weed-reduction work within a fenced-in 4-acre water well site along Fourth Street. The site is across the street from Coeur d'Alene High School.

One goat died after having its head nearly cut off by the person or people responsible for the attack. Another goat had to be put down because of its injuries.

Shortly after the attack, Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

Crime Stoppers can be reached at (800) 222-TIPS. Tipsters don't have to give their name to collect the cash.

The goats ranged from 2 to 3 years old and stood approximately 2 feet tall, weighing between 30 and 50 pounds.

The goats were owned by Hayden-based Green Goat Rentals. The business had a contract with the city to provide weed control on city properties.

The police department is also asking for tips at (208) 769-2320 or by email at [email protected].
