Glacier picks up first win at Babe Ruth World Series

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. — Drew Scherrer tossed a 2-hitter and drove in two runs while Logan Kolodejchuk and Thomas Hellwig both had three RBI to help the Glacier All-Stars notch their first victory, a 13-1 triumph over Giles County, Tennessee, on Sunday at the 2015 Babe Ruth 13-15 World Series baseball tournament at Denver Trapp Field.
Glacier put the contest away by scoring 10 runs in the final two innings. The game ended after six innings.
Scherrer held Giles County to one single and a double. He struck out six and walked one batter. He totaled 68 pitches, with 43 of those strikes.
Hellwig went 3 for 4 and doubled twice.
Kolodejchuk, 2 for 4, had a triple.
Terek Bistodeau had two hits along with Scherrer.
The victory ended a two-game skid at the World Series. Glacier lost to Westchester, California, earlier in the day 16-0.
Four Glacier pitchers combined for nine walks in that outing.
Westchester’s two pitchers struck out just two Glacier batters.
Ryan Thompson had the only hit for Glacier.
On Saturday, Sarasota, Florida, topped Glacier 13-5 in the tournament opener.
Pool play continues today with Glacier facing Brazos, Texas, at 4:30 p.m.
