The Troy Trojans volleyball team failed to win a game last year, but second year head coach Mandy Love is excited to watch her team develop into a winning team.

“We are going to be better than we were last year,” she said. “We are returning five starters. We didn’t win a game last year, but we gained valuable experience and lost just three seniors.”

Love said that she sees marked improvements from her team in practice.

“It’s a day and night difference to how they looked last year during the first practice and how they looked this year at the first practice,” she said. “They understand the game better and just seem to have a better grasp of things.”

Love said that 2015 season will be a success if her team continues to improve and develop.

“If we have half as much improvement as we did last year we are going to be a pretty good team,” she said. “It’s all about improving each week and I think we will improve each week.”

The Trojans are returning five starters and Love said the returning players are looking forward to winning some games in 2015.

“I have five players that gained valuable experience last year,” she said. “Now they are ready to do something with that experience that they gained last year. They are ready to do something with that experience and we are hoping that the experience we gained last year translates to victories.”

After a long season of not winning any matches, the Trojans are ready to take the court in 2015.

“I’m excited to see how much we’ve progressed as a team,” she said. “I’m excited to see how much they will progress during the season. They are a great bunch of kids. They are ready to do something special this year and put last year in the rear-view mirror.”
