Flathead County Commissioners Pam Holmquist and Phil Mitchell on Monday approved a resolution of intent to change the zoning on 109 acres of Commissioner Gary Krueger’s farmland in the West Valley area.

Krueger abstained from voting.

He asked to have the zoning changed from agricultural with a 40-acre minimum lot size to suburban agricultural with a 5-acre minimum lot size on acreage northwest of the intersection of Church Drive and Fox Farm Road. The property is located within the boundaries of the Highway 93 North Zoning District.

Krueger noted in his application he wants to create some smaller lots at some point in the future for retirement income.

The resolution of intent starts a 30-day public comment period. Comments can be mailed or emailed to the Flathead County Planning Office.
