Our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Dixie Metz, passed away Aug. 13, 2015. Dixie was born March 5, 1937, in Cheyenne, S.D. Dixie was a loving, giving, devoted and caring wife, married to Ray Metz for more than 61 years. Their love, devotion and commitment to each other was an inspiration for us all.

The one word that best describes Dixie is “encourager.” She will be remembered for her generosity, optimism, wisdom, sense of humor and selfless nature.

Dixie loved gardening and enjoyed spending her leisure time in her beautiful flower garden with her daughter, Robin.

Dixie leaves behind her devoted loving husband, Ray Metz; and her sister, Ginger Rice. Ginger said, “Mom made us sisters, and our sons made us sisters to the soul. I truly loved and will miss our talks.” Also sons Ronald and Raymond Metz; and daughters Robin LaChey and Teresa Damon. Dixie’s daughter, Debbie Lindgren, predeceased her. She is survived by grandchildren James Jacobsen, Robert Jacobsen, Brad LaChey, Stephanie Pratt, Leslie Metz, Stacie Simpkins, Jeremy Simpkins and numerous great-grandchildren. Also left behind are her two adored cats, Duffy and Tiger.

Ray sends up this prayer to Dixie:

Proverbs 31:10- 12

10. Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

11. The heart of her husband safely trusts in her, so he will have no lack of gain.

12. She does him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.

Her children send up this prayer to Dixie: Proverbs 31:28: Her Children will Rise and call her blessed.
