MATTAWA - Columbia Bank officials, elated with the results of their first four years here, are replacing the existing bank building with a new one.

The bank will be located generally where the existing bank is, just a few feet east. According to Regional Manager and Senior Vice President Nicole Sherman, the new bank could be in operation at the end of August.

"We've outgrown our branch," Sherman said. "We made a decision late last year that will better serve the customers."

The new manufactured building is larger than the old manufactured building. Office space will go from 1,100 square feet to 2,450. The property will go from 15,744 square feet to 28,339. Sherman expects to double the parking.

The existing bank has one walk-up ATM. The new one will have a drive-up ATM, as well as a walk-up. The existing bank has one drive-up lane. The new one will have three.

The number of teller windows will increase, and planned is new technology that makes banking transactions quicker.

No new employees are planned in the foreseeable future, Sherman said. But the number had grown by four in the last two years.

The Mattawa branch manager is Vice President Maria Rosales.
