GAY: Approach issue biblically

God loves people from all walks of life, even the “gay community,” and in His eyes one sin is no greater than another. Sexual perversion is no worse than lying or stealing. All sin stems from one “mother sin”: IGNORING GOD. If you live from day to day and seldom or never think about God, you are committing the mother of all sin, regardless how “moral” your lifestyle may be. You are breaking the First Commandment: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might”. (Matthew 22:37) You are spending all your money, energy, and time, on the “other gods” in your life.

Since Ignoring God is the “mother sin”, WHAT IS THE PENALTY FOR ANY SIN? The answer is: “But the fearful, and the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone...” (Revelation 21:8)

Since the homosexual lifestyle is not specifically mentioned in the above passage, lets look at Romans 1:18: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness...(skipping to verse 27) “...the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another, men with men working that which is unseemly...” (Romans 1:27)

Now go back to Leviticus 20:13 (Old Testament) which says: “If any man lies with mankind, as he lieth with a woman...they shall surely be put to death...”

Now that we know what God’s attitude toward homosexuals is, WHAT SHOULD BE THE CHRISTIANS’ ATTITUDE? Same as with any other sin. They are LOST and need to be saved. Love them enough to warn them, and give them the GOOD NEWS that Christ Jesus died on the cross for the sins of everyone who will believe in Him. So if they will trust Jesus to forgive them, He will remove their desire to sin and save them by His grace.
