John Charles Heiser was born on Nov. 5, 1946, in Hazen, N.D., the seventh of 10 children born to John C. A. and Elinore (Ford) Heiser and attended elementary school in Salmon, Idaho. His family moved to the Kellogg, Idaho, area where he graduated from high school.

He joined the Air Force and upon his honorable discharge he returned to North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he received his Auto Body Mechanics Certification.

He worked as a miner at Bunker Hill in Kellogg for several years. He was united in marriage to Elda Lewis on Sept. 3, 1967, in Osburn, Idaho. Three children were born to this union: Jon E., Valerie A. and Vanessa A.. The couple later divorced and John moved to Salmon where he went to work with Barrett at the Cobalt Mine. He was introduced to the Electrical field of work and began working on achieving his Journeyman's certification.

He was married to Mary Ann McFarland and he welcomed her two children, Angela and Joy, into his family. John later was married to Mary Ann Booker and welcomed her son, Mark, into the family. They were divorced in 2014.

John always had a dog or two or three as his faithful companions over the years. They were his little buddies and were always by his side. John was the great white hunter; He enjoyed deer hunting along the Lemhi Pass and over the years he built quite a collection of horns that are still in the garage.

John always worked very hard and took great pride is his electrical work that he provided for others over the many years here in Lemhi County. He finished his last job just a few days before his passing. It was important to leave things as they should be.

John is survived by his son, Jon (Lisa) Heiser of Kingston, Idaho; two daughters: Valerie (Jason) Evenson and Vanessa (Gary) Beck, all of Osburn; 15 grandchildren: John, Ian, Chelsy, Kayti, Jerad, Kaitlyn, Seth, Jacob, Bethanie, Meghan, Justin, Christopher, D'Nay, Dannee and Kody; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers: Andy Johnson of Oregon, Dick (Susan) Johnson of Carmen, Idaho, Mark Heiser of Buhl, Idaho, and Ray (Paula) Arklander of Oregon; three sisters: Rachael Johnson of Rose Lake, Idaho, JoAnn Ellis of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Mary Arklander of Smelterville, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Annabelle Scott and brother George Johnson.
