Gabe Love carded an 88, taking seventh place as the Columbia Falls golf team opened its season last week at the Whitefish Invitational.

Love, a senior, was the only golfer from Columbia Falls to break the top 10 at the Aug. 19 tourney. Bryce Callender shot a 96, Logan Lybert a 100, Logan Peck a 101 and LJ Panasuk shot a 110.

On the girls' side Shay Lefebvre shot a 123 and Kerry Lanners shot a 127.

"It was a decent start on the season, particularly for Logan Lybert and Logan Peck," coach Gene Marcille said. "Gabe's score was a little higher than I expected, but I'm confident he'll be in the hunt as the season progresses."

The team hosts a tournament at West Glacier next Monday. The Ronan meet they were going to host this Thursday has been moved to Sept. 2 due to course maintenance.
