An evening of laughs

COEUR d'ALENE - The Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn is hosting two nights of national comedy acts today and Saturday.
Comedy Night at the Inn host Alvin Williams is bringing comedians from all over the nation to the Lake City. This weekend's acts will be Adam Norwest, Andrew Rivers, Matt Fuchiron and Cory Michaelis.
The headliners for both nights have been featured on television many times. Fuchiron has performed on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," "Last Comic Standing" and "Tosh.0." Norwest was named Country Music Television's Next Big Comic in 2012.
Williams is also no stranger to television appearances, he does commercial work in addition to comedy. He can be seen in nationally run commercials for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, Columbia Bank and Powerball MegaMillions.
Christina Petit, director of sales and marketing for The Inn said it tries to treat those who attend the comedy shows like celebrities too.
"When the guests arrive we have a photographer with a Hollywood-style red carpet photo-op for all groups that come in," Petit said.
During the show, Petit said guests receive table-side service so they don't have to miss a second of laughs.
After the show, the comedy aficianados are invited to have their pictures taken with the comedians or even head to Mulligans in the hotel lobby for after-party drinks with them.
Comedy Night at the Inn tickets sell fast. Most of their previous shows hosted by Williams have sold out the 325 seats available.
Petit said she believes the shows' popularity is driven by the comedians Williams books, and the affordable price of tickets.
"What people can expect is lots of laughs and a time well spent with friends for just $15 a person," Petit said. "You can't get much more value than that."
Williams has a little more insight into why the shows are such a success.
"Comedy Night is special because it is unfiltered, the comics are allowed to be themselves in every facet onstage," Williams said. "It's not filmed and we're not a comedy club, so the comics take more chances and try material that they don't use anywhere else because we (Coeur d'Alene) have the best crowds in the country."
Williams said he is not exaggerating at all.
"Our crowds are huge and they love to laugh, it energizes the comics who return that energy right back to the audience," he said. "It's an amazing and unique experience for both the comics and the crowds."
The shows start today and Saturday at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the front desk of The Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn, 506 West Appleway. For more information visit www.cdainn.com or call (208) 765-3200.
