The annual Flathead River Rodeo took place last weekend at the Polson Rodeo grounds. The Indian National Finals Rodeo event has been named rodeo of the year three times, and was working to do it again. Thursday evening included a full rodeo with a suspended tie down roping event due to the calves being stuck on the wrong side of Highway 2. The fire in Evaro closed the road for the calves, causing that event to be moved. After the rodeo, there were mini chuck wagon races, to the delight of the crowd.

Friday was more fun, including mutton bustin’ and more special events, including live music after the rodeo. Saturday was the championship evening, where some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the INFR competed. While many of the contestants were from other states, and even Canada, there were some local athletes that fared well on the weekend.
